Construction has started on Emily’s House!!
Our Children’s Hospice, opening in 2012
We are very pleased to announce that Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care has recently received two significant donations totaling $600,000; $100,000 from The Rotary Club of Toronto plus a $500,000 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Our Campaign achievement now exceeds $5,100,000 and we are well on our way to reaching our Goal of $7.5 million, the amount required to renovate and expand Emily's House, Toronto's first children’s pediatric hospice.
We are also very excited to tell you that we have begun renovation work on both the Gatehouse, the little house just to the west of Emily’s House, which will become our administration space for our community programs and Emily’s House, along with the stabilizing of the Governor’s House. Construction will proceed at the historic Governor's House, Emily’s House, our new 10-room children’s hospice, with its official opening planned for late 2012.
We are extremely grateful to all of our generous donors, to our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, our wonderful Architect and his team, our legal counsel, The City of Toronto, Bridgepoint Health and all others who have played a role to ensure that this wonderful children’s hospice will soon be open for hundreds of young children, infants and their families over the next few decades.
And while we continue to pursue our capital goal, we are also very focused on our annual operating budget, ensuring that we will meet and exceed program expectations at Emily's House. Construction costs have increased and unexpected operating costs will make the need even greater to surpass our current campaign goal. Referrals are always welcomed.
Many thanks again for your tremendous confidence in our mission.
Best regards,
