Black History Month
Emily’s House and Philip Aziz Centre gratefully acknowledge and joyfully celebrate Black History Month, February 1-29, 2024, and encourage our staff, volunteers, and our communities to take this time to listen, learn and discuss.
Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black People in Canada and their communities. The 2024 theme for Black History Month in Canada is: ‘Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build.’ This theme represents both an opportunity to engage in open dialogue and a commitment to learning more about the stories Black communities in Canada have to share about their histories, successes, sacrifices, triumphs, and hopes for the future.
At EH and PAC we are committed to achieving and sustaining an environment, where everyone feels they belong, and where their contributions are valued, diversity respected, and voices heard and honoured in a safe space.
