Thank you for your interest in donating to Emily’s House children’s hospice and/or the Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care. To ensure the best of care for children and families, cash donations are always preferred, so that funds that may be assigned “where the need is greatest” in support of children, adults and families receiving hospice care.
For the best impact, please consider donating funds toward Programming. These general donations enable home supports, children and family experiences in the community, recreation and peer programming, excursions, and can also cover community-based recreation fees. You can give the gift of hospice by donating online now.
Donating Goods Guidelines:
No used toys, clothing, blankets or other soft-fabric items can be accepted for the safety of our medically-fragile clients. Due to limited storage space, the types of donated goods (gift-in-kind donations) we can accept are limited.
If you choose to donate toys or purchased items to us at this time, we will find a good home for them, or store them for the short-term, until we can put them to good use with individuals who will appreciate them. Deliveries can be made to our Emily’s House location, at 45 Jack Layton Way. Donations of new toys/items in their original packaging can be made during office hours to the front lobby. Please include a contact name, mailing address, and summary of your donation so that our administrative office can follow up with an appropriate “thank you.” Leading up to the holiday season, a special “Wish List” will be posted to News as we gear up for the Holiday Season Gift Drive in Memory of Ava.
For donors who prefer to purchase and donate specific gift items, here is a current Wish List (2026) from our client services and recreation team to keep donations meaningful and relevant. Please use this list for your inspiration.
- New sports equipment (basketball, soccer ball, portable basketball net, etc.)
- Mini animals and figurines for pretend play (in a variety of sizes), e.g., dinosaurs, animals, action figures
- Pretend play kits with large plastic pieces (i.e., washable and can’t be put in the mouth!) e.g., a construction or builder kit, mini shopping cart, beauty salon kit, etc.
- Water toys for the summer play
- Baby toys
- Tempura paint
- Shampoo, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, body lotion for family welcome baskets
- Date Night gift cards (that can be used at restaurants, value of $125 each)
- Any amount PC gift cards for grocery shop lists $50 value each
- We pay for Disney+ and Netflix, so any subscription support would be great
- Casting powder for hand molds
- Black and blue ink pads
- Birthday party supplies; coloured plates, cups, napkins, cutlery, birthday sign, streamers and tablecloths
- Michael’s gift cards, any amount, for memory making supplies
To receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation, please provide contact information and mailing address, as well as a purchase receipt to confirm the value of the donated items.
