“Kristen [a Music Therapist at the Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care] brought a special joy to my Mom. Kristen took the time to get to know my mom by talking with her and other family members. She learned the songs that were special to my mom and would sing them to her with her beautiful voice. These songs allowed my mom to remember stories of her past, including how she first met my dad. As my mom declined in health, Kristen continued singing by her bedside and my mom would sing along when she was able or would turn her head towards Kristen to listen. As much as my mom enjoyed her music, other family members who attended the sessions also participated and benefited greatly. We would not have believed in the power of music and Kristen’s voice until we witnessed our mom singing even when she was lightly sedated.  We are forever grateful to Kristen helping create such wonderful memories and bringing solace to our mom and the rest of the family….
