Congratulations to our Board Member, Obed Jean-Jacques, for a CREA Realtors® Care Award Nomination
The Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care / Emily’s House children’s hospice was first introduced to Obed Jean-Jacques in 2019, when he began fundraising for our children’s hospice programs. His Funday Monday promotional online trivia quizzes raised $5,000 to $10,000 per year for our charity, as well as awareness, introducing Emily’s House to his real estate database and active communities.
After three years, we put his name forward to our governance Board of Directors in September 2021, and he joined this volunteer leadership team in 2022. Obed has brought new energy, perspective, and inquiry that has led to enhancements to our charitable organization’s evolving online presence, improved diversity in our communications, and has helped us test outreach opportunities with new target markets/social media community groups. As a Board member, he has also been a value-contributing member of sub-committees for: “Web 2.0” (our new AODA-compliant website development and online continuous improvement team); and, also our 2023 Gala Fundraising Committee.
In addition to bringing great joy, energy, and practical/strategic insight, Obed is willing to ask the tough and unpopular questions, and to hold others to higher account for the benefit of our children with life-limiting illnesses, their families, and underserved groups in the GTA who may benefit from our services.
Perhaps the best part is that he engages his entire family, his entire Jean-Jacques Team of realtors, and network of communities as he brings his vibrant enthusiasm to our hospice cause. His inspired and engaged “entourage” have participated in our annual Hike for Hospice event; and our 2023 anniversary Gala; plus, his core team makes annual visits to our hospice for a facility tour and to see and hear the frontline in-hospice updates of our Emily’s House programming and client care.
We are very fortunate that Obed has chosen to advocate for our hospice as a true champion of the cause, and we strongly endorse his nomination for any award recognizing his contribution to our GTA community.
