Hospice Care Supports Families
At Emily’s House children’s hospice and the Philip Aziz Centre for hospice care, wrap-around psychosocial supports for caregivers and immediate family (through one-on-one, family or peer group care structures) are intended to improve quality-of-life, and encourage improved wellbeing and longer-term well-being outcomes.
One of our Emily’s House Social Workers observes: “The client’s mindset improves. They develop new coping techniques to manage ongoing complex care needs. Parents learn to take a safe mental health break without feeling guilty. Each family member has necessary supports in place for ongoing care, plus improved mental health and wellbeing outcomes beyond the short-term crisis.”
