The Jean-Jacques Team Hospice Bed Fundraiser
The Jean-Jacques Team is targeting to fundraise $15,000 to replace one hospital bed for children’s hospice care . We’re calling on our community networks to help make this happen. Our common goal is to make compassionate hospice care accessible for these medically-fragile children and their families.

Online donations of $20 or greater will receive an immediate charitable tax receipt. Donors of $1,000 or greater will be recognized/listed in the charity’s annual report, website, and an anniversary campaign article.
Our local children’s hospice in the GTA, Emily’s House, will be familiar to you from our Funday Mondays trivia series, and your chances to win Raptors tickets. Today, we are “upping our game” in support of this children’s charity.
Hospital beds, obviously, are a place of vital medical care, rest and rejuvenation. In a paediatric hospice care setting, they can also be the location of: music/art therapy; therapy dog visits; cuddles with mom and dad while a qualified medical team is accessible down the hall; playing video games on a computer tablet; colourful manicure/pedicure spa fun for kids; visits from magicians and Paralympic athletes; and, occasionally, for unicorn tea parties. In a hospice care setting, an available hospital bed presents access to essential 24/7 advanced palliative medical care, as well as access to exceptional, life-giving care, for the remaining moments available to these children and their families.
Since opening in 2013, Emily’s House children’s hospice has supported thousands of patient admissions and visitors – children, siblings and families. Currently entering a tenth year of operation as Canada’s sixth paediatric hospice, and supporting the increasingly complex care needs of children, their medical equipment is aging and subject to 24/7, high-use wear-and-tear. Medical equipment designed for this level of critical care is ideally replaced every six-to-ten years, and Emily’s House turns 10-years-old this year. Unfortunately, government funding is not available to cover the costs to replace the eight priority beds needed.
The hospice bed fundraiser is new and exciting, and our team loves it! “Keep giving… and eventually, it comes back around.”
With thanks in advance for your support!
