Kyara and her Faithful Mom: Nine Years of Emily’s House Visits
We came together to honour Kyara’s life and bid her farewell. Her sudden passing on January 28th, with her mom by her side, left us all reeling with grief.
For nine years, Kyara graced Emily’s House with her presence, where we fell in love with her expressive eye rolls, sassy side-eye glances, and spontaneous dances. Despite her non-verbal nature, Kyara possessed a rare gift for fostering connections and bridging divides. Family, friends, nurses, doctors, teachers, and members of the church community joined in honoring Kyara’s memory, drawn together by the silent but powerful presence she exuded. Her ability to touch the lives of so many, transcending barriers and boundaries, is a testament to the depth of her spirit and the power of her enduring legacy.
Kyara’s mother stood as her steady foundation of support, embodying the roles of advocate, doctor, nurse, teacher, lawyer, and administrator with unwavering dedication and boundless compassion. Her tireless dedication to Kyara’s well-being and happiness knew no bounds, as she navigated the complexities of caregiving with unwavering strength and love. Today, as we gathered to honor Kyara’s memory, the depth of her mother’s commitment was palpable, earning her resounding applause from all who bore witness to her endless care and compassion. It was evident to all present that her love knew no bounds, transcending the roles she played to simply being the best mother Kyara could have ever asked for.
During the ceremony, Kyara’s older brother delivered a moving eulogy, reminding us to find solace in smiles and to keep dancing, no matter life’s challenges.
Kyara lived a truly amazing life, filled with adventures, including travels back to Jamaica and a deep love for any place with a body of water. She was a warrior in every sense of the word, bravely navigating life’s challenges with a spirit that inspired us all.
Kyara, your absence will leave a void at Emily’s House that cannot be filled. We’ll miss your spirited presence, your contagious energy, and the way you brought joy to everyone around you. Rest peacefully, sweet Kyara 💖
