Neve’s Story
“Once I understood that my child was going to die from her cancer, her palliative care referral was the best thing that could have happened.”
“… As we come to the end of Neve’s story, I want to reiterate that palliative care is “just” good care for people who are suffering and/or dying. There will always be deaths – Neve’s cancer was not preventable and it was not treatable. Understanding this and accepting it meant that we could focus on what mattered. Our realistic hopes were for the rest of her life to be as good and as comfortable as it could be, full of laughter and love and care. Palliative care is not really an optional extra or something to negotiate – it is just good care. All children who need it should have access to this care.”
