Dental Powder Needed for Legacy Projects at Children’s Hospice – Please Help
Next time you go to the dentist, would you be willing to ask for a donation of dental powder for hand and foot molds for our Legacy Program? While your dentist gives you a healthier, brighter smile, you can help put smiles on the faces of parents of palliative children.
Specifically, we are looking for Jeltrate in 1lb (454g) containers to be used in creating hand molds for our legacy program. Personalized molds are a special way that we can capture and preserve a child’s hand or foot. The mold shows the fine details of their fingernails, the lines on their palms, a bracelet they wore … or elements of a parent and children together, creating a lasting memory.
Legacy work is a cornerstone of paediatric palliative care at Emily’s House. Our team helps in the creation of meaningful experiences and crafts, personalized heartbeat songs, hand and foot molds, and new memories – for our children and families. One Emily’s House nurse wrote: “I had the opportunity of working with the Legacy Program and bringing a lasting memory for a family whose child was in her last days of life. The Legacy Program plays a huge role in making these moments and keepsakes for families who are going through a death of a child. It is a piece of their child that they can keep, and they are so grateful that we are able to offer this experience and keepsake for them.”
Donations should be addressed or delivered to Attn: Donations, Emily’s House / Philip Aziz Centre, 558 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON, M4M 1X8.
