FRANK LEO & ASSOCIATES HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE 2022: for Emily’s House Children’s Hospice in Memory of Ava
Emily’s House children’s hospice is so grateful to FRANK LEO & ASSOCIATES. Last year, the Frank Leo & Associates Holiday Gift Drive for Emily’s House in Memory of Ava raised $12,092 plus toys! Funds helped renovate the Snoezelen Room for recreational therapies supporting our medically-fragile children. The donated toy delivery topped up supplies at our free “pop up” holiday store for our hospice clients, where moms and dads were invited to make a list and check it twice! As one family shared: “It’s amazing, the things you do for the families who are going through the hardest time of their life.”
The goal for this year’s campaign is to raise funds for Children’s Recreation for outings, adventures and experiences that these children will treasure. Plus, toys/gift cards and donations from our Wish List will provide holiday cheer and seasonal joy for medically-fragile children, their siblings, and families.
Emily’s House Children’s Recreation Experiences
Our Children’s Recreation and Play Program offers each child an individual care plan that incorporates elements of play, music therapy, art and supported socialization, all personalized to each child’s needs, abilities and interests. Children siblings are often invited to join in the fun of “purposeful play” through special events at our hospice home, home visits, and recreational outings in the community. Donations help provide access to supported play, seasonal parties with families, zoo visits, sporting events, unicorn parties, visiting magicians, go carting, batting cages, community Splash Pad visits, legacy craft materials, supported swims, and other fun wheelchair accessible excursions/outing destinations in the Toronto area. (A target goal of $5,000 funding for recreation experiences will bring joy to these children throughout the year. Surplus funds will be directed to where needed most to support Emily’s House children and families).
Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care and Emily’s House provide medical respite, practical, emotional, grief and bereavement support to people living with life-limiting illnesses in the comfort of their own home, or in Toronto’s first paediatric residential hospice … plus children’s recreation, music therapy and special events! Our programs support children, adults, caregivers, siblings and entire families at no cost to them.
